Nurturing Your Child's Potential
|
First developed in 1952 as an outreach to the community, the Laurel Heights Weekday School continues to reinforce basic Christian principles within its classrooms. A non-denominational Christian service is held several times each week and Christian holidays are celebrated during the year. The school values religious activities and includes them as part of the total curriculum. It is our hope that the love and care experienced by each child here will be internalized as a way to live with others.

Fully Accredited Laurel Heights Weekday School is fully accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, and maintains the highest standards of operation. The accreditation is unique in that only very few preschools choose to undergo this intense review. This exemplifies our true commitment to provide the best environment for your child to develop cognitively, socially, and physically, as well as emotionally and spiritually.
Professional Staff Many of the professional staff members have been at Laurel Heights for more than 20 years. All Laurel Heights Weekday School teachers have appropriate credentials for teaching early childhood programs, including Associates and Bachelors degrees, certification in Early Childhood Education (ECA), and designation as a Child Development Associate. Additionally, our teachers supplement their skills throughout the year by attending workshops and seminars.

Developmentally Appropriate Curriculum The curriculum and teaching strategies at Laurel Heights Weekday School are both age and individually appropriate. This allows each child to progress at his or her own rate, based on the child's interests and abilities within reasonable limits. Class sizes are kept well below maximum state limits.
The daily schedule reflects a well-ordered balance of individual, small-group and whole-group activities, conducted both indoors and out. Field trips are incorporated into many of the classes for additional learning experiences. Separate classes are also provided each week for the study of music and Spanish; the large indoor gymnasium is used for motor skills class and during inclement weather. We work constantly to keep materials and our facilities state-of-the-art.

Program Offerings Laurel Heights Weekday School offers school year and summer programs, including infant/toddler and preschool classes, as well as early morning and afternoon care. Monthly tuition fees are based on number of days attended. Church member discounts are available for part-time attendance or flat rates for all children with full-time attendance.
Smiling, Happy Faces If smiling, happy faces are a good indication of just how much the children enjoy their time here, then we believe we’ve done our job well. We also believe there is no limit to what children can achieve if their potential is nurtured to the fullest. When it comes to your child's education, you couldn't ask for a better start in life than Laurel Heights Weekday School.
