Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
There’s usually a “quiet time” in the church after Easter, but not this year. As I look at the May calendar, I see several special opportunities to celebrate God’s grace and presence in our Sunday worship services.
May 11 is Pentecost Sunday when we celebrate God’s gift of the Holy Spirit to energize and enable the Church. One Pentecost tradition is confirmation of the Confirmation Class. This year’s class includes: Clay Campbell and Alexis and Victoria Jones who will be confirmed at the 11:00 service.
May 18 is “Peace with Justice Sunday,” one of six churchwide Special Sunday offering opportunities we celebrate conferencewide.
May 18 is also “Senior Sunday” when we recognize our graduating High School Seniors. They will participate in both services that morning and will have their luncheon and program after the 11:00 am service in the Dining Room. Our seniors this year are: Sarah Darnell, Katie De La Vega, Sarah Hudson and Andrea Puentes.
Later, at 4:00 that day in the sanctuary, the San Antonio Choral Society will Celebrate Brahms in a concert featuring Brahms’ Schicksalslied and Nänie. Tickets (available at the door) for adults are $15 and $12 for seniors. Children and students with a student ID will be admitted free.
May 25 will be Associate Pastor Norman Roe’s last Sunday here, and he will preach. We’ll have a reception for him and Margie after church that day. Norman has been such a wonderful pastor, preacher and friend, and we’ll all miss him very much.
So, things will be fun, exciting and inspirational as we wrap up the spring season. I hope you’ll plan to be here to help us celebrate.
