Youth Chimes Choir Grades 6-12 9:30 - 10 AM Sunday Mornings Youth Chimes Choir rehearses in the Choir Room a half-hour before Sunday School. Here, Middle School and High School youth learn the foundational skills of ringing handchimes as they prepare music to share in worship. Sunday School 10:00 - 10:45 AM Sunday Mornings Middle School(Room 320) With a love for students at this crazy age, the teachers use lectionary readings to help encourage Christian decision making. High School(Room 318) Using the weekly lectionary readings, students apply biblical answers to the issues they face trying to live out their faith.
The Lectionary is... A 3-year cycle of the Bible with readings from the Old Testament and Psalms, and New Testament Gospels and Epistle or Revelation.
Confirmation Grades 6-12
Held in conjunction with Sunday School, youth learn what it means to be United Methodist. Those wishing to join the church after completing the Claim the Name Confirmation course may do so by being confirmed during worship on Pentecost Sunday.
Student Ministries (UMYF) Grades 6-12 in Room 319
Middle School youth meet 4 - 5:30 pm in Room 319 with supper for both groups in the dining room on the second floor from 5:30 to 6 pm. After supper, the High School youth move to the youth lounge in room 319. In Student Ministries (UMYF), youth learn, play, and grow together through community service projects, spiritual enrichment, Bible study, missions, faith, and fellowship.
Youth Mission Trips Each summer the youth go on a youth mission trip, usually outside of San Antonio. In the summer of 2011 the youth worked at a project site in New Orleans where some of the work included making repairs. Mid-winter Retreats Jr. and Sr. High groups each spend a weekend (on separate dates in January / February) at various camp sites in the scenic Texas Hill Country. Together they explore Bible truths through Bible study, music, fun, and fellowship. Summer Camps Youth have opportunities to attend area Methodist summer camps which offer Christ to all in every season.
